[blue_heading] Summertime Fruit Salad $0.55 per cup [/blue_heading]
I’ve been thinking about this blog a lot and I have decided to limit the amount of text within my recipes. Not that I don’t thoroughly enjoy adding a little back story to my recipes, I feel it’s just gonna make for a better blog to keep it short and sweet in today’s time constraint world.
With that idea in mind, here is my recipe for a summertime fruit salad. It’s cheap, it’s healthy, and it’s simple; just the sort of thing you will find plenty of here on Cheapstir.
This recipe makes a lot of fruit salad so feel free to cut the recipe in half if you are not planning on hosting a party lol.
* Two very optional things to mention:
1) I used Cool Whip Lite, it’s okay but by all means get the regular Cool Whip for an even better treat.
2) Again, I used marshmallows in my recipe, but it’s totally okay to leave them out and add some nuts instead.
- 3 cans fruit cocktail (drained) $2.67
- 1 can pineapple chunks (drained) $1.27
- 1 large orange (slices) $0.60
- 2 medium bananas (slices) $0.14
- 1 large granny smith apple (chopped) $0.62
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (slices) $0.82
- 2 cups fresh grapes $0.95
- 1 container Cool Whip Lite $1.50
- 1 cup marshmallows (optional) $0.16
- Open and drain canned fruits.
- After draining, place into a large bowl.
- Chop your apples.
- Slice the tops off the strawberries and then slice into smaller bits.
- Rinse and devine grapes.
- Place all fruits into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the Cool Whip by small amounts and mix then add the rest.
- Mix well and place in refrigerator covered with saran wrap to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy a great tasting, energy boosting summertime fruit salad.
- *Adding marshmallows decreases the healthiness, but increases the happiness. =D
