Knock knock. . .”who’s there?”. . .cheapstir. “Cheapstir who?”. . .cheapstir brought treats. . .”Oh yes yes, please come in!”
It’s almost Halloween here in the great United States, many people will be hosting parties and/or attending parties. When I take part in the spooky festivities I like to suit up(dress up) as a UPS delivery guy and deliver spooky treats.
These little orange balls of haunted savory taste will please any Halloween party you are involved with. If you have little ones running around feel free to include them, as this recipe is both messy and fun. Kids and grown ups will both enjoy this simple but festive treat. Both sweet and savory is what this recipe is all about.
*You will not use the entire bag of Twizzlers so the price is cheaper than shown above.
Happy Halloween everyone
- 1 cup 1 cup (8 quarts popped) popcorn kernels $0.80
- 1/4 cup Butter $0.78
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil $0.26
- 1 bag small marshmellows $0.89
- 1 bag green Twizzlers $2.38
- 2 tsp orange gel food coloring $0.15
- 2 tsp salt $0.02
- Here is all you will need minus the butter which is not pictured.
- Prepare kettle corn in a pot with oil up to top of one kernel on medium high heat covered. Cook until the popping has stopped then place popcorn into a large bowl. Add salt and mix.
- In a non stick pan add butter and marsh mellows and heat until just melted. Then quickly add the orange gel food coloring and popcorn; mix well.
- Empty the mixed popcorn oto parchment paper or a baking sheet to let cool for a few seconds before handling. Run some water from the facet and wet your hands before forming the popcorn into balls with your hands. Cut up your stems (Twizzlers) and place them on top of each ball.
- Allow the popcorn to cool for a few minutes before serving. *These are great for a Halloween party.
