A low mess way to enjoy a favorite amongst comfort foodies everywhere. If your an American then you’ve had this at the dinner table many times. This is an authentically unauthentic slow cooked chicken n dumplings recipe for us lazy ones. Who says eating good food has to be messy right?
Fall has arrived and so has my appetite for all things that warm my soul and my stomach. Get that crock pot out and turn that little porcelain pot of heaven onto the fall cooking season. Chilis, stews, roasts, soups, pastas, oats, it’s practically endless.
Hopefully this will be a nice additional recipe to someone’s slow cooker arsenal.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless chicken breasts $3.39
- 1 can Pillsbury biscuit dough $1.68
- 1 10-12oz can cream of chicken $0.62
- 2 tbsp Butter $0.14
- 1 large onion(diced) $0.48
- 3-4 cups Water $0.00
- 1 tsp S&P $0.04
Servings:
Instructions
- Place chicken breasts into Crock Pot.
- Place onions, butter, cream of chicken, water and salt and pepper into pot and cover then cook on high for 5 hours or low for 8 hours. *Add enough water to just cover the chicken.
- 30 minutes before the 5 hour mark place your biscuit dough (tear apart) into the pot and let cook until dough is fully cooked.
- When the home cooked chicken n dumplings are done serve it in a nice bowl and enjoy this easy low mess meal.
- If eaten while still warm, outside in the fall, it will taste even better and getting some sun doesn't hurt either.
