I don’t know to many people that aren’t into french fries and since I made an earlier video post showing you my homemade ketchup recipe I thought now would be a good time to show you guys my favorite way to make homemade baked french fries!
This is not only cheap but really simple and a whole lot healthier than those deep fried golden sticks of sadness and despair that you buy at your local drive-thru. There is only 3 basic ingredients to make homemade baked french fries…potatoes, oil, salt and that’s it! I know your thinking, “well it’s so easy why haven’t I made these before?” or “I tried making fries by deep frying before and it was less than spectacular” but there is no deep frying and no other ingredients to add(unless you want to). I use all sorts of different seasonings in my fries; which is why I always recommend buying a few key spices for any new cook so they can experiment and gain a reference point of taste with say what does rosemary taste like on a steak or just how good ground cumin is at giving you that Mexican flavor in anything. Try using taco meat seasoning packets for your fries sometime and maybe add some chili ah so gooooood!
Check out my video recipe here.
[blockquote] Never be afraid to experiment with your food; tried and true is good but be adventurous and taste the unknown[/blockquote]
- 1 tbsp olive oil $0.06
- 2 potatos $0.36
- 1 tsp onion powder $0.03
- 1 tsp garlic powder $0.04
- 1 tsp salt(to taste) $0.03
- 1 tsp Black Pepper $0.01
- 1 tsp Cajun Seasoning(optional) $0.03
- 1 tsp Dried Rosemary(optional) $0.07
- Pre-heat your oven to 425° before placing a potato onto a cutting board and cut until you have either long and skinny or short wedges for shapes.
- To make a fry shape you can watch my easy video on making fries.
- Place cut potatoes into a bowl. Add olive oil, salt and any seasonings you want and mix well until fully coated; I used a mixture of ready made Cajun and rosemary seasonings!
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil(non-stick or spray) try to keep a bit of distance between the fries as this will help to cook evenly.
- Place your fries into a pre-heated 425° oven and bake for 15 minutes then flip and cook for another 15 minutes.
- When your fries have baked for 30 minutes take them out of the oven and let them cool on the stove for a couple of minutes before serving.
- Congratulations on baking your homemade baked french fries!!
